Coronavirus - Temporary Legal Changes in Long-Term Care Insurance

Despite extensive relaxation, the Corona Pandemie still has our lives under control. In order to relieve those particularly affected by the crisis, the legislator has passed temporary legal changes in nursing (insurance).

With that into force of the "Second law to protect the population in the event of an epidemic location of national scope" of May 23, 2020, the people in need of care and their caring relatives are particularly supported. Changes are particularly evident in the areas of the short-term work prevention, nursing and family care time  As with the  Short -term care, relief services and the nursing assistants  and are initially applicable until September 30, 2020. 

Short -term work prevention


If the family occurs in a sudden nursing emergency or if the care cannot be taken over by the nursing service due to the current situation, it will be enabled to workers by September 30, 2020, the short -term work prevention of 10 on maximum 20 days  to increase. The caregiver can be one for this period  Care support allowance apply for the responsible care fund of the person in need of care. Nursing and family care time

A loan can be requested to compensate for the lower content. PandemieD -related income failures are not taken into account when measuring the amount of the loan.


Short -term care


If it is currently not possible to carry out or take over the care at home, it is permitted to give the relatives to give the person in need of care in a short -term care. Due to Corona, rehabilitation facilities or hospitals are used for this purpose and the grant granted for 8 weeks a year from the legislator of EUR 1,612 will be available for 806 euros by September 30, 2020 2,418 euros increased.


Relief services


The monthly 125 euros relief benefits can be done by people by September 30, 2020 Care level 1 also for other purposes for example, for neighborhood help or services from professional providers if the supply bottlenecks have arisen due to crisis. 
The current period to use the saved amount of the relief amount from the previous year to June 30 will be extended for the savings of 2019 by three months to September 30, 2020.
 

Nursing


Since April 1, 2020, the claim for nursing aids has been increased by 20 euros. Until September 30, 2020, all people in need of care are in need of care 60 euros  available for nursing aids such as one -off gloves or mouth protection.

Loosened advisory requirements


Also the usual consulting gymnastics  §37 Paragraph 3 SGB XI   For nursing relatives at care level 4-5 every three months or with care level 2-3 every six months must be eliminated by September 30, 2020. A cancellation of the care allowance due to this is not to be feared. General care advice according to §7a SGB XI  is still possible by telephone or digitally at the nursing care fund and at all other advice centers.

Classification of the level of care
